March 8th, is International Women's Day! Woot Woot!

International Women's Day is a day of global celebration; where we honor the cultural, political, social, and economic accomplishments of women from around the world. Women all over the world will be finding ways to celebrate their womanhood. Every year, this day comes and goes, and sometimes we don’t even notice it and take time to appreciate it.

As millennials we need to learn to utilize these days not only to pay homage to those brave women before us, but to stand up for the brave and inspiring women of today. Let's also learn to pay extra special attention to ourselves so one day we too can leave a legacy for the next generation to praise and or follow in our footsteps!

When we hear the word “detox,” we tend to get alarmed and say “Na, I’m good.” Why? No particular reason -- besides the idea that most of us believe we really are “good”. But since when did it ever hurt anyone to get a little more healthy? Our bodies need to get rid of waste otherwise it builds up and we get sick and overweight. Ladies we hope you left the douching alone. Who ever came up with that truly does not respect the magic of the cookie (vagina)! According to OBGYN Dr. Draion Burch, using this technique on your private parts is a huge mistake — and could be harmful. "Your vagina has a balance of good and bad bacteria," he explains. "When you douche, you wipe out the good bacteria and allow the bad bacteria to overgrow, leading to bacterial vaginosis."

It is so important for us to maintain a healthy diet to attain vaginal health. You may not realize it, but following a balanced and nutritious diet while drinking plenty of fluids are both key to vaginal and reproductive health. 

Some helpful tips practice safe sex to keep harmful germs away. You should change condoms when switching from oral or anal sex to vaginal sex, to prevent the introduction of harmful bacteria into the vagina. But you knew that already! So here's another tip: EAT PLAIN GREEK YOGURT.

Tips for vulvar care

  • Use only warm water to wash the vulva. Dry thoroughly with a clean towel. 
  • The vagina cleanses itself naturally in the form of normal, vaginal discharge. 
  • ALWAYS wash new underwear before wearing. Believe it or not, someone probably tried them on in the store before you bought it! (Nasty. Period)
  • Do not use deodorant tampons. Do not leave tampons in for a long period due to toxic shock syndrome. Do not leave tampons in all night.
  • Don't scratch.
  • Avoid wearing nylon pantyhose or panty girdles. They trap heat and moisture, providing an ideal breeding environment for organisms. When nylons or leggings are required, wear cotton or nylons with a cotton panty.
  • Avoid these feminine hygiene products, which can irritate the vulva: sanitary pads, feminine spray and deodorants, Vaseline® (especially during sex), oils, greases, bath oils, talc, or powder.





No we are not talking about getting a pedicure, that would be cliche.  Although you should pamper yourself once and awhile. What would be ideal is if the nail salon also provided foot detox during those pedicure sessions. Foot detox is said to work by pulling the toxins out of your body through your feet. The has provided 3 simple, cost effective foot soaks to try at home: 


Salt Detox Bath Recipe

  • 1/4 cup Sea Salt or Himalayan Salt
  • 1/4 cup Epsom Salt
  • 1/4 cup Baking Soda
  • 1/3 cup Apple Cider Vinegar
  • Essential Oils (Optional -- I use 10 drops of peppermint or lavender)

Clay Detox Bath Recipe

  • 1/2 cup Bentonite Clay
  • 1/2 cup Epsom Salt
  • Essential Oils (Optional)

Oxygen Detox Bath Recipe

  • 2 cups (or more) of Hydrogen Peroxide
  • 1 Tablespoon dried Ginger Powder
  • Oxygen Detox Bath Instructions

Fill the tub with warm/hot water and add the hydrogen peroxide and dried Ginger. Soak in tub for 30 minutes or as long as desired.

Then we have the Ionic Foot Bath. The purpose of this bath is to help detox your body while balancing your bodies pH levels so that diseases cannot thrive.
